Examination System

At Blessed Islamic Grammar School (BIGS), we strive to provide our students with the best educational experience, preparing them for a bright and successful future. To ensure our students achieve the highest academic standards, we offer a comprehensive examination system that covers three external examinations: Metric 9th and 10th by BISE, Cambridge Primary Checkpoints at the end of Grade 5, and Cambridge O/A Levels.

Our academic year is divided into two semesters, each approximately 16 weeks long, with 14 weeks dedicated to studies. The academic year begins in August and runs through May, with the first term spanning from August to December and the second term from January to May.

Examination Structure at BIGS:

Final Term Exams: At the end of each semester, students take final term exams, which make up 80% of their total marks. These comprehensive exams assess the students’ understanding of the subject matter covered during the semester.

Midterm Exams and Class Tests: To monitor students’ progress throughout the semester, we conduct midterm exams and class tests. These assessments account for 10% of the students’ total marks and help identify areas where additional support or focus may be needed.

Character Building: At BIGS, we believe that fostering strong moral values and personal growth is just as important as academic achievement. Therefore, 5% of a student’s total marks are allocated to character building, which includes elements such as behavior, participation, and adherence to Islamic values.

External Examinations: Our students are prepared to excel in three external examinations: Metric 9th and 10th by BISE, Cambridge Primary Checkpoints at the end of Grade 5, and Cambridge O/A Levels. These exams serve as a benchmark for our students’ academic progress and provide valuable feedback for our school’s ongoing improvement efforts.  The exam dates are in accordance with the respective boards i.e Matric examinations are held in March/April, where as Cambridge Exams are held in May/June and Oct/Nov each year.

Academic Calendar: To help students and parents plan accordingly, our academic calendar clearly outlines important dates, including the start and end of each term, exam periods, holidays, and other key events.
